Last weekend I stopped by 305 Knowlton, a gallery/artist-studio-building nearby my studio Gold Coast Recorders; there was a flea-market/craft-fair event happening at 305. My friend J and I bought some records from MT (who is in all likelihood the first person I ever bought a used record from, some twenty-plus years ago…): I picked up Obscured By Clouds, Booker T and The MG’s ‘Uptight’ soundtrack, and a Ma Rainey Comp. I asked J if he wanted to take a ride to see some local history, and within a minute we pulled up next to this impressive but nondescript building. “What’s this?” asked J. My response: ‘those old records in your lap – they were most likely created using machines designed and built in this very building.’

To this day, "Bridgeport" is a synonym for a vertical milling machine in machine shops all over the world. Never mind that Bridgeport Machines built a lot more than milling machines nor that a lot of other vertical mills exist too.
I have a Scully model 100 tape recorder in a store but I plans to restore them. I have some schemmatics and spare parts.
I worked on the Scully 100 as a mechanical designer.
I still have one or two manuals for this machine.
I'll sell one if anyone is interested.
Sincerely,
Ralf
Hi Ralf
Please contact me I'm interested in one of your manuals. I need all about the 9 board cards in that controls the logic system if you have them.
Hi Ralph,
Wondering if by chance you stayed on and worked for L. J. Scully. I have a couple of LS-76 The Lathes and am in contact with the owner/operators of about three others. I think only 10 were made (#651-660). If you have any intel on these I'd be interested to know.
Thanks,
Andrew
