The HUSTLER Guitar (via Technikraft of Illinois) c. 1979

1979: The ‘Hustler,’ a little-known entry in the ‘aluminum-neck’ race of the 1970s (see also: Kramer, Veleno, Travis Bean).  Anyone?   Apparently it has a hollow fiberglass body, and at least two years ago it was tough to move at $300!   Seems like it could give some unique sounds,,,,

  • These are extremely rare and becoming highly collectible. There were only 500 ever made and less than a handful are known to exist. My advice - if you come across one, scoop it up. Oddities from the 70's are about to boom as far as guitars are concerned. Trust me. You'll thank me later.

  • I am one of the two founders of Technikraft and the designer of the
Hustler guitar. For the record, the body of the guitar is rotationally
cast epoxy based resin, one piece hollow body, no glass fibers. I have a few of these guitars and after being played for 40+ years they are still going strong.

    • Thanks for writing in. my mis-statement was prompted by the forum linked in my article. As usual, the internet is wrong... CR

  • I have a white Hustler electric with the aluminum neck and rose wood fret board that I bought in 1978. It's still in perfect condition.
